Singaperumal kovil - Padalathri Narasimhar temple

After several years, out of blue today somehow I am dusting my blog and planning to restart my love for writing!

What better way to break the hibernation by writing about a temple?

Today we are going to see about Padalathri Narasimhar temple situated in Singaperumal kovil(place name) which is near to Chengalpattu. This temple is about 1.30hours away from Chennai Egmore via suburban train.

I am a chennai vaasi for years but never visited this temple.Somehow got an opportunity to visit this temple recently and wanted to share some information about it for people who might  need this.

As soon as we decided to visit the temple, the first thing that flashed the mind was on the commute.Which mode of public transport would be easier ,was the question and we nailed it by taking rail route.

Suburban Chennai trains are a boon for people like me.I have been using the suburban trains for years now and I am grateful to it every single day.So we took suburban train from Chennai and reached Singaperumal kovil.

Check for training timings from Chennai egmore to Chengalpattu or to Thirumalpur that goes via Singaperumnal kovil.Roughly takes 1.30hours to reach Singaperumal kovil from Egmore via train.

The temple is just at walkable distance from the station and so we reached there by feet.

Owing to temple reconstruction , we could get only the darshan for Prahladha Varadhar, the utsavar and saw the Ahobillavalli thayar. The temple was built by Pallavas and is a rock cut temple. We missed seeing Padalathri Narasimhar who has third eyes in his forehead and it is shown at the time of harathi.

After darshan felt too serene..You have only few steps to climb to the prasadam stall. The stall sells the world famous singaperumal dosai smeared with fiery gun powder..They also sell Kesari, puliyodharai, curd rice and other snacks. We got prasadam from the stall and finished our breakfast there!

The temple also has a tree, where people pray and tie cradle so that they are gifted with kid.

On the whole it was a soul satisfying temple visit. With UTS app, booking train ticket was a cake walk. You can also look for return train timings and take a train for SP kovil to Chennai egmore.Sharing few photos that I shot.
