Less is more!!

 Happy morning everyone!

I was pondering for several minutes today on what topic should I write about for this week.As I was scrolling through the gallery of pictures to get some ideas of topics,so many memories flashed in my mind..Some happiest moments, some challenging moments but that is what life is all about right?Ups and downs. We are all conditioned to believe that life is all about happy moments and we really wanted to shy away when hardship hits us!Through lots of inner work,I slowly start to understand that hardships teaches us lessons to move ahead with our path..A path of moksha...A path to get rid from the never ending cycle of life and death.

This post is not about my spiritual journey or about the inner work but about how Less can be more :) Post my maternity ,I have put on so much of weight which never budge to drop! The first message that goes in every mentoring session that I underwent is "To accept and love the way that I am currently"..It is ok to be lean,It is ok to be fat,It is ok to neither be lean nor be fat!Now that the acceptance has slowly started to creep in ,the next step is to cut down the bothering /complains that we undergo.

I was always on the complaining mode..I always used to argue with my husband that I am not getting enough time,I am not having enough support system,I could not enroll in a gym to reduce my weight..It was only complaints, complaints and more complaints..There was no solution and I was indirectly sending lots of negative vibes to the universe.Do we  all not know that universe gives what we ask for?The more that I complained the more that I got situations to complain about.

Motivation has to come from within and I also strongly believe that people whom we interact and live with play a great part in inspiring us ! Despite several hardships and setbacks in her life,my mom is consistent with her walking which is very essential for her!Few years back, during COVID I had a chance to visit my parents' place and post all the works,my mom and I would do a quick 5 minutes walk inside the home or on the floor or outside! That was a game change for me.

It hit me hard that I need not complain for not getting a chance to hit the gym but try the available options within my reach and there started my journey of implementing super tiny lifestyle changes in my life which helped me understand that  less is always more :) I would carry my then toddler in my hip and walk during weekends..Few weekends were great but few weekends literally drained me..Carrying him and walking was taking a toll, then I started to make him walk but I could not keep up with his pace of running :) Then I was looking for my husband to baby sit my son while I go away for few minutes for walking..But my husband's work schedules made it heavily impossible and then the biggest break through hit me hard..To convert the bigger goal of walking into a smaller unit say walking for 5 minutes inside home. Now that is a viable option. No need for someone to baby sit my son,no need to carry him,no need to go outside..Walk and walk for 5 minutes inside the home! This approach is the only approach that I am following for years now!

No ,I have never seen gym in my life,No, I dont walk several kilometers daily,No, I am not in a phase of life that allows me to accomplish my bigger goal of walking several kilometers but I am contended with the approach that less is more..A 5 minutes walk inside home or a walk which gives me an opportunity to cover good distance or a quick walk while drying my clothes in the terrace or walk to the nearby shop to get provisions  makes so much of difference to me!

So the underlying message from this post if any that  you wanted to take away is 1.Set macro goals and try to find opportunities to stick with it 2.It is ok to fail,I dont walk 5 minutes on all 7 days..I steer away from the path but I get back after a setback and keep doing it whenever possible. 3.Dont beat up yourself for being irregular..It is ok..We are all in the learning path..Fail but get back to track after every fall. 4, Be consistent with your macro goals by being self motivated for a longer run and getting inspired from external factors during the initial stages. To sustain long, only drive from within helps more than the drive from outside!

Another macro goal that I am slowly starting to implement is to not get out of the bed and get into GO GO mode.Trying myself to give that 15 to 30 seconds to thank everyone and everything before I kick start a brand new day!As Robert Frost poem goes, "Miles to go before I sleep" but one step at a time and one one macro goals at a consistent pace!

Happy setting super macro goals and achieving the same!Happy weekend everyone!

PS: I write post once  a week on topics related to temple, organisation, spirituality, productivity ,motivation etc!Stay tuned!
