Ways to tackle the burning heat!

After seeing the title, you would have got to understand what my post is going to be today!yes,it is all about Summer!I like summer because of the lip smacking fryums, juicy water melons, yummy ice apple(tadgola/nungu) and much more! But sometimes the heat waves makes us feel tired/low/dehydrated etc.In this post, I am going to share few tips to keep yourself healthy from the scorching heat.I don’t try all these tips at once but I take it slow and try it one step at a time over these years and wish to share it here!

With no further ado here you go.

Cotton the only respite:

Few years back,I took the decision of not wearing synthetic or other materials and moved completely to cotton(that does not mean,I don't wear other fabric at all.I still wear silk etc during special occasions ).People around me felt, I am crazy,For special occasions like deepawali,I  ensured to pick a cotton saree. We witness scorching heat day in and day out in Chennai and this cotton dress comes to the rescue. I  also ensure to make my son understand that light and loose fabric is the need for the hour.We are so accustomed to skin hugging dresses and the next moment when you wear loose dresses, you feel uncomfortable ..Trust me,it is all in our mindset ..Comfort matters over fashion! Just wear a loose comfortable cotton wear, which would keep your body cool this summer. If you have hand loom cotton ,well it is the best .Currently I do not have hand loom collections but wish to be a convert some day !so the key here is keep your outfit comfortable ,loose and cotton!

Hydration for energy:

I started getting severe head ache after drying my clothes in the terrace even in the mornings(thanks  to the firing heat). The sun has started to shed its rays at its peak by then. The moment,I come down,I feel tired ,a sensation of headache and what not?Keeping oneself hydrated is a key solution,I understand. Don't have any target litres  of water to be consumed every day, instead sip and drink water whenever you feel thirsty. Keep yourselves hydrated with tender coconut water or fresh fruits which are rich in water like melons and cucumber!stay hydrated whenever you feel tired or even otherwise. While venturing out or when you go to terrace during the time when the rays are high, please take necessary precautions.

Less spicy is a comforting meal:

With heat waves soaring high you cannot definitely go for a meal rich in spices.Cut down the spice levels in your food and make whatever comforting meal that would sooth you to beat the heat.I have been very conscious to cut down dry chilies wherever possible and if need be,I use a little of green chili(for the water content).A balanced food with minimal spice levels is definitely the need for the hour! For the past few days,my breakfast is icebriyani 😊The previous night cooked rice is soaked in water till it is immersed well and let it as is overnight. The next day you can just mash it a bit and have it as is or add salt, asafoetida and butter milk and have it like how I do..I don’t have to say anything about the good bacteria that develops in the rice during night which is very good for your body during this summer!

Mangoes and more mangoes:

Many of us love summer because we get to taste the different varieties of mangoes only this time.Raw mangoes, sweet mangoes, pickles, salad and a lot more of dishes are made this season. While we cannot afford to miss these pleasure of tasting the yummiest fruit in this world, ensure you take a coolant with mangoes..Say methi seeds is an excellent body coolant .While making pickle you can add a tsp of methi powder.Or whenever you feel, your body is getting heated, then you can soak methi overnight, grind it to a paste the next day..Apply it on your hair and give it a good wash. This cools the body so well but please be cautious while trying this, as sometimes cooling might result in cold.If you are trying it for the first time, apply only little bit and wash it off quickly..Only if it suites you,  then you can go ahead and try it out whenever there is a need!

Bathing in a room temperature water:

I am someone who is used to take bath in  hot water on all 365 days until a month or so back!I always hear my husband saying that his body gets heated up while bathing in hot water and he refrains from it and I understood only recently about it!A bath in a room temperature water is soothing and refreshing too..First it was a difficult change for me but after few days I became comfortable. But when I am drained or tired,I go for a hot water shower which is an excellent healer by itself!

That is all I wanted to share with you all!oh yes the bio-enzyme post is still pending and I assure to post it soon!
